The product wasn’t organized well. The author used the alphabet to organize everything without quite getting to the point. Each chapter could have been summed up by bullet points or just made shorter by getting to the point. Much of the book is the author going on and on regarding his personal opinion and also constantly saying, “I’m not being racist or singling any group out I’m just staying this”. The personal opinion parts come out every chapter so far. For example, the author says not to wear big bright logos because they draw attention which makes sense. But then he goes on and on about how he didn’t wear logos because he doesn’t believe in free advertising for companies that aren’t compensating him. I could argue that having logos can help hide you in certain backgrounds. Like if you go to a skater park it helps to be wearing a pair of puffy skate sneakers. I’m halfway through the book and I’m already bored because of the layout. I’m still waiting for the meat.

The entirety of this book comes down to three points. 1. Don't dress military 2. Don't act military. 3. Don't act like an entitled american in other countries.Otherwise it was so generic. I am not disputing the author's credentials here, but learning of real world situations, and actual events where gray man concepts saved lives or allowed escape would have been better. This was not worth the 90 minutes it took to read it.I was so excited to get this book... my disappointment in it is just as strong.

Don’t waste your money! The WORST author I have read in a long while! Stringing a half-dozen unrelated words together does not a sentence make. On each page I found myself scratching my head and asking WTH is THAT supposed to mean? Terrible!

But I found many things I hadn't thought about--or hadn't planned out in such detail. So, yeah, you could read a 2-page article on the concept, or you could read this highly detailed book. This is a beautifully illustrated story for children to learn about the significant history of the Jewish Purim holiday. It celebrates the story of the heroic Queen Esther, who saved her people from the evil Haman’s plan to eliminate the Jews of Persia.This story is written in an easy-to-understand format with clear and concise rhyming that flows smoothly. I especially enjoyed the humor and simplicity of how the author shortened King Achashverosh's name to King "Oy-vey".This enchanting tale is filled with so much rich cultural history, and I believe that all children should read it, no matter what their religion is. The importance and value of learning about our world's history is priceless, and I think this book should be included in every library and classroom today.

I loved Sarah Mazor's newest book , "Queen Esther's Big Secret." There are many reasons why I found it educational and enchanting. One is that it's important for children to learn about other cultures and ancient history, as well. In this story we discover King Oy-Vey has a misunderstanding with his wife, Queen Vashti and the king orders his men to find a more appropriate queen who shows wisdom and kindness to everyone in his kingdom. King Oy-Vey's men search far and wide for exactly the right queen. When they choose Esther they have no idea about the natural talents of the new queen, or the secret she's hidden her whole life. Young readers will find the story fascinating and enchanting. They will want to read it over and over again. Both the story and the beautiful illustrations are extraordinary. This story is based on the Book of Esther which is read on the feast of Purim in Jewish synagogues around the world. It celebrates how Queen Esther saved the Jewish people in Persia from slaughter during the reign of Achashverosh (Xerxes I).King Achashverosh (Oy-vey) had an argument with his wife, Queen Vashti. She disappeared. The king became lonely and sent his guards to find a new wife. He chose Esther, a girl who was previously unknown. Esther hid a secret, she was the cousin of Mordechai, the Jew. When the wicked Haman develops a plot to kill all the Persian Jews, Esther reveals it to the king who kills Haman and rescinds the decree. The shy orphan girl becomes the heroine of her people.The four-line rhymes contained on each page are crisp and sharp. Zavadskyi’s illustrations are brilliantly colorful. They portray the mood of the story perfectly. I would recommend this book for any elementary school reader

This cute book of rhymes is written for young children. It is a clever adaptation of the Book of Esther, covering the highlights of the actual story line. The illustrations in this book are absolutely stunning and work perfectly alongside the story. I recommend this book as a read-aloud for young children.

Kids would love it! This is a wonderful and educational story. With colorful illustrations and engaging rhymes the author approaches a complex story in a very interesting way, making the story easy to follow and very entertaining. Enjoyable for parents and kids.A must read in every Jewish home.

I generally love the ROUGH GUIDE. I love it so much that I ordered the new edition of the INDIA guide while I was still using the old one in India. It would be sent to my home, but I assumed I'd want to use it for another trip.Upon reviewing it, I am very disappointed. There seems to be very little research since the last edition. In a few places where new hotels have opened and are featured prominently on TripAdvisor with great ratings, there is no change in the listing (including descriptions) of the hotels from the earlier edition. In one situation (Naggar) where I followed the old edition's hotel recommendation and quickly was disappointed (and left), I heard from *MANY* in the town views about the owner that confirmed my negative impression (pure greed). The negative impressions were unanimous, yet ROUGH GUIDE just repeated the exact same advice as the earlier edition.So it seems pretty clear to me that in many (all?) cases, there was no further research from the earlier edition and not even checking out TripAdvisor to see if some most-recommended places were being overlooked.

I have the printed version of this book and it has been a lot of great info. I was hoping to reduce my packing weight this trip with the Kindle copy instead. So, I bought it and tried it on the Kindle app on my tablet.... thinking full color would be nice compared to my e-ink Kindle. Instead... I returned it for a refund and resorted to the old strategy of cutting out the chapters of the paper guidebook that I need for my trip.First, the formatting of the Kindle book is terrible. It really is set up for a novel, not for a guide book. You loose all the in-context sidebars and interesting facts, for example. The maps are in the Kindle book, but they're super low-resolution images. Click on one to zoom in on it, and you see none of the detail that exists in the paper copy. The index is also missing, making it impossible to find smaller cities or points of interest (you can use the table of contents to find regions or major cities). All in all, a huge failure as a useful travel reference.The written content is great, since it's from the paper copy - it's just impossible to use while traveling. Like I said, I've cut apart my paper copy and have the chapters I need in my backpack instead.

I would have bought this book on Kindle, if it had been available. Unfortunately, it's not. The paperback edition has very thin pages, small print, and a faint typeface; if you are at the reading-glasses stage of your life, you will want them, and a strong lamp as well.This book has more information and variety than the Lonely Planet series, which has become more and more formulaic. Is it a good guide? I'll know when I've gone to India, which hopefully will happen in a few months.There's some "political" (i.e. left-wing) nattering in these pages, but less than in previous Rough Guides, and anyway, it's a travel book. Who cares what this author thought of the Raj? The travel reader wants good maps, thoughtful reviews, and nuts-and-bolts facts. This Rough Guide provides all these. Combine it with the beautiful, full-color Dorling-Kindersley guide, and you have it all.

I'll start off by saying that I wouldn't use the Rough Guide again. We purchased both the overall India guide and the guide to Kerala. In both cases the restaurant suggestions were amazing. Both books directed us to hidden little gems that were delicious and that we would never have found otherwise.That being said, on a few occasions the guide listed activities that flat out didn't exist. In Kochi (Kerala) it described a new mall and how amazing it was, listing it as a place that foreigners should go see. Problem was, the mall hadn't opened yet and won't be for another six months (as of December 2012). So, the writers of the book never visited the place and pretended they did. In my opinion doing this even once is completely unacceptable for a travel guide and immediately removes them from consideration.Another mark against them is that several of their city maps were completely inaccurate and served only to confuse us. When a city map doesn't show a roundabout you're instantly lost. I do blame them for one fight with my wife because I insisted we were following the map correctly (we were, the map was just wrong). They should have at least said "map not to scale or not for actual directions."Overall, if I was to travel again I might buy the Rough Guide as a supplement to other guide books but I would never rely solely on it again.

I think I prefer lonely planet, but rg contained just enough useful info that I'd buy it again. Be ready to chop it just the sections you need, though! It's too heavy to take the entire book.
