I have to admit I am not a fan of the snakes in general. In fact, I don't think I have read a complete book on snakes until this one. I found the facts to be very engaging and interesting. I actually learned a few facts regarding snakes! However, I still don't like them.The pictures are amazingly crystal clear and beautiful. I like the fact that I can double click (kindle version) on a picture and it automatically brings it to a full screen picture. Unfortunately, throughout the book, the publisher made a few mistakes in not filling up all the empty spaces with beautiful, amazing, life like pictures of the highlighted snakes. Unfortunately, the plain picture of the Boa Constrictor (Loc. 97 of 388) does not emphasize the magnitude of this killer snake. It definitely did not do the Boa Constrictor justice.The Table of Contents should be printed on one page instead of two pages. Also, in the Table of Contents the spacing is off with the chapter titles: Corn Snake, Garter Snake, California King Snake, and the Milk Snake. As the reader, it bothers me when the spacing between words is not consistent. For example, in the first chapter in the fourth line of the subtitle "Snake Fact"s, there are too many spaces between the words "according" and "to" and "to" and "their". It looks like the columns must follow the block form, which I think is why the publisher spaced the words out. It seems that when I turn back pages to reread, the page text and pictures shifts. This is very confusing to the brain of an adult and as a child it must be even more so. Often a reader will memorize the text along with its placement on the page. But if the text or picture changes location on a page every time the reader rereads then the reader might not be as successful in learning or memorizing the information.As a teacher, I could see this book being read by students in the 2nd-8th grades. This is an outstanding research resource. I would recommend this book due to its factual statements and the amazing, beautiful pictures.I received this book for a discount for my open and honest review of this book.
This book is so awesome i got this for my Little girl who is 8. She LOVES all kinds of animals from big and small to furry to scaly animals as much as I do.When she seen this was a option to read she was so excited. She said she loved learning about the top 10 snakes it had facts about and seen the cool pictures of them.The book is fantastic it starts off with asking are YOU AFRAID OF SNAKES. Which is cool because it goes into talking about how there misunderstood creatures. Which is cool because the more you read it the more you understand why they are misunderstood creatures.Then the book goes into the facts on snakes and is very informative on these facts.When you think that it couldn't get better then just facts about snakes it does. It goes into in depth details of there top 10 snakes the book has facts on.The top 10 are awesome it talks aboutAnacondas, boat constrictors, cobras, cornsnakes, garter snakes, pythons, rattle snakes, sea snakes, California King snakes and milk snakes.The cool in depth details and facts that talk about each individual snake is awesome and very informative even the pictures of each snake in the book they show is very cool and amazing.The book goes into details and facts that are both fun and interesting. It was so cool how the book talked about snakes of all kinds. From land snakes to water snakes like the ones in the sea to tree snakes.This book is awesome with the cool and interesting facts that it is a good read for all ages.The book has such neat ways of making you want to know even more about each one its amazing.This book made my little girl want to get even more books about snakes and books on each individual snake. Which is awesome.This is a great book and I love how the book talks about how these awesome creatures are misunderstood.
