The product wasn’t organized well. The author used the alphabet to organize everything without quite getting to the point. Each chapter could have been summed up by bullet points or just made shorter by getting to the point. Much of the book is the author going on and on regarding his personal opinion and also constantly saying, “I’m not being racist or singling any group out I’m just staying this”. The personal opinion parts come out every chapter so far. For example, the author says not to wear big bright logos because they draw attention which makes sense. But then he goes on and on about how he didn’t wear logos because he doesn’t believe in free advertising for companies that aren’t compensating him. I could argue that having logos can help hide you in certain backgrounds. Like if you go to a skater park it helps to be wearing a pair of puffy skate sneakers. I’m halfway through the book and I’m already bored because of the layout. I’m still waiting for the meat.

The entirety of this book comes down to three points. 1. Don't dress military 2. Don't act military. 3. Don't act like an entitled american in other countries.Otherwise it was so generic. I am not disputing the author's credentials here, but learning of real world situations, and actual events where gray man concepts saved lives or allowed escape would have been better. This was not worth the 90 minutes it took to read it.I was so excited to get this book... my disappointment in it is just as strong.

Don’t waste your money! The WORST author I have read in a long while! Stringing a half-dozen unrelated words together does not a sentence make. On each page I found myself scratching my head and asking WTH is THAT supposed to mean? Terrible!

But I found many things I hadn't thought about--or hadn't planned out in such detail. So, yeah, you could read a 2-page article on the concept, or you could read this highly detailed book. Either way you'll get what you pay for. The book was worth it to me.

This story is based on the Book of Esther which is read on the feast of Purim in Jewish synagogues around the world. It celebrates how Queen Esther saved the Jewish people in Persia from slaughter during the reign of Achashverosh (Xerxes I).King Achashverosh (Oy-vey) had an argument with his wife, Queen Vashti. She disappeared. The king became lonely and sent his guards to find a new wife. He chose Esther, a girl who was previously unknown. Esther hid a secret, she was the cousin of Mordechai, the Jew. When the wicked Haman develops a plot to kill all the Persian Jews, Esther reveals it to the king who kills Haman and rescinds the decree. The shy orphan girl becomes the heroine of her people.The four-line rhymes contained on each page are crisp and sharp. Zavadskyi’s illustrations are brilliantly colorful. They portray the mood of the story perfectly. I would recommend this book for any elementary school reader

This cute book of rhymes is written for young children. It is a clever adaptation of the Book of Esther, covering the highlights of the actual story line. The illustrations in this book are absolutely stunning and work perfectly alongside the story. I recommend this book as a read-aloud for young children.

Kids would love it! This is a wonderful and educational story. With colorful illustrations and engaging rhymes the author approaches a complex story in a very interesting way, making the story easy to follow and very entertaining. Enjoyable for parents and kids.A must read in every Jewish home.

I generally love the ROUGH GUIDE. I love it so much that I ordered the new edition of the INDIA guide while I was still using the old one in India. It would be sent to my home, but I assumed I'd want to use it for another trip.Upon reviewing it, I am very disappointed. There seems to be very little research since the last edition. In a few places where new hotels have opened and are featured prominently on TripAdvisor with great ratings, there is no change in the listing (including descriptions) of the hotels from the earlier edition. In one situation (Naggar) where I followed the old edition's hotel recommendation and quickly was disappointed (and left), I heard from *MANY* in the town views about the owner that confirmed my negative impression (pure greed). The negative impressions were unanimous, yet ROUGH GUIDE just repeated the exact same advice as the earlier edition.So it seems pretty clear to me that in many (all?) cases, there was no further research from the earlier edition and not even checking out TripAdvisor to see if some most-recommended places were being overlooked.

I have the printed version of this book and it has been a lot of great info. I was hoping to reduce my packing weight this trip with the Kindle copy instead. So, I bought it and tried it on the Kindle app on my tablet.... thinking full color would be nice compared to my e-ink Kindle. Instead... I returned it for a refund and resorted to the old strategy of cutting out the chapters of the paper guidebook that I need for my trip.First, the formatting of the Kindle book is terrible. It really is set up for a novel, not for a guide book. You loose all the in-context sidebars and interesting facts, for example. The maps are in the Kindle book, but they're super low-resolution images. Click on one to zoom in on it, and you see none of the detail that exists in the paper copy. The index is also missing, making it impossible to find smaller cities or points of interest (you can use the table of contents to find regions or major cities). All in all, a huge failure as a useful travel reference.The written content is great, since it's from the paper copy - it's just impossible to use while traveling. Like I said, I've cut apart my paper copy and have the chapters I need in my backpack instead.

I would have bought this book on Kindle, if it had been available. Unfortunately, it's not. The paperback edition has very thin pages, small print, and a faint typeface; if you are at the reading-glasses stage of your life, you will want them, and a strong lamp as well.This book has more information and variety than the Lonely Planet series, which has become more and more formulaic. Is it a good guide? I'll know when I've gone to India, which hopefully will happen in a few months.There's some "political" (i.e. left-wing) nattering in these pages, but less than in previous Rough Guides, and anyway, it's a travel book. Who cares what this author thought of the Raj? The travel reader wants good maps, thoughtful reviews, and nuts-and-bolts facts. This Rough Guide provides all these. Combine it with the beautiful, full-color Dorling-Kindersley guide, and you have it all.

I'll start off by saying that I wouldn't use the Rough Guide again. We purchased both the overall India guide and the guide to Kerala. In both cases the restaurant suggestions were amazing. Both books directed us to hidden little gems that were delicious and that we would never have found otherwise.That being said, on a few occasions the guide listed activities that flat out didn't exist. In Kochi (Kerala) it described a new mall and how amazing it was, listing it as a place that foreigners should go see. Problem was, the mall hadn't opened yet and won't be for another six months (as of December 2012). So, the writers of the book never visited the place and pretended they did. In my opinion doing this even once is completely unacceptable for a travel guide and immediately removes them from consideration.Another mark against them is that several of their city maps were completely inaccurate and served only to confuse us. When a city map doesn't show a roundabout you're instantly lost. I do blame them for one fight with my wife because I insisted we were following the map correctly (we were, the map was just wrong). They should have at least said "map not to scale or not for actual directions."Overall, if I was to travel again I might buy the Rough Guide as a supplement to other guide books but I would never rely solely on it again.

I think I prefer lonely planet, but rg contained just enough useful info that I'd buy it again. Be ready to chop it just the sections you need, though! It's too heavy to take the entire book.

I wasn't sure how this was going to be because how much more can you learn about one topic when he's written so many books on it. However, in this book he focuses on defining more deeply love languages and communication. He also delves into conflicts, negative emotions, and resolving them. Afterwards he steps into three basic needs - love, respect, appreciation - and then focuses on types of intimacy - physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual. I found it to be helpful and interesting

Okay so... First of, I'm not Christian, but my husband is. I'm definitely open and receptive to any positive message, and have read books with a religious slant in the past I thought were great, so I thought I'd give this book a try. It does have some good points, but boy oh boy do you really have to sit through some condescending balogna to get to the point!! Understanding that technically this was written for a different audience aside, the meat of the lessons are buried beneath pages of repetitive tripe that basically serves only to point out how "non-Christians couldn't possibly understand" or how lucky Christians are to magically have this superior ability to know what it is to serve others that those poor thick-headed non-Christians simply don't have the capacity for, silly reprobates! Some of the ideas can also come off a litte sexist and old fashioned, but I think mostly are relative to the time the book was written. Outside of that, a lot of the ideas have merit, and I found myself highliting many sections and passages. The concepts that I did try to incorporate in my marriage were very successful. Honestly, just reading a book about communicating better started a great dialogue between us. I would recommend with the above warnings to skim past the junk.

I do not write my headline statement lightly. It took about three weeks to finish Mr. Chapman's book, but every page was well worth it. Gary fills each page not with theory, but with facts and practical tools we need to strengthen our marriage. I have read several books on marriage so far, but this one was authentic and applicable.Thanks Gary!

Chapman has done it again with solid marriage advice from a Christian worldview. I enjoyed the end of each chapter with the questions and actions he gives for couples to take their learning and communicating with each other to the next level.

Excellent book. Chapman's books are always great. Very well written. Lots of good advice on how to communicate with your spouse, Many good examples.

More recently Rumi has been roped in by California zen as some generic pseudomysitcal dip into a watered down version of an anti-organized-religion quasireligion. Other than Rumi - and Rumi is, in my admittedly strong opinion, one of the blander representatives of these Eastern Renaissance souls - other than Rumi, an entire great literature, history, spirituality, shared human experience is denied us by the excessive and excessively biased representation of all the countries and their peoples past the eastern borders of Israel as rabid Islamic extremists, with no present and no past heights of soul, heart and mind. This story was action packed, fun and sexy. It was satisfying to see the relationships develop and grow, as well as feeling the sexual tension between the main characters. He always has you cracking up throughout the book And is a good friend to Tora .I really enjoy Tora and her friends . They are a great group and I'm glad she has them. I want more Brooke and max though...This time is nates life Spiraling outta control and you'll have to read on to see if he'll confide in Tora and let her be his rock through this like he was for her,So many omg moments....And then I just got totally sad when I realized I have to wait a few weeks until book three !!!A must read series

More ridiculous high school drama... but that is what makes this book and series so Awesome.This books seems lighter than the other.Looses a star for bad editing and spelling. I can't believe the amount in this book. But does not keep you from enjoying thestory.This story is also pushing the limits of reality. The drama on top of drama ALMOST becomes too much.Love Torad mom and the pool scene.Love the way we got to see Tora take care of Nate in this story. Love that while they are inseparable, they still do things separately.

Sheridan Anne did a great job on Broken Hill Halo, the story was well written with a great plot with many emotions. This was a great continue to this story. Nate and Tora have already been through a lot, well Tora has, she was a tough cookie. In this one, her and Nate and going strong, their connection is strong and the chemistry is sexy. They were great together. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.Thank you, Sheridan Anne. Great work :)

I loved this book. If you love books that have hot guys, an angsty heroine, and drama then this is the book. This series is the perfect mix of teenage drama, family, and friends. When you think things can’t get any worse and yet they do. Tora and the Ryder Boys do what they need to do to get things done. Holy carp what did I just read? That was amazing and blow my world apart. I wasn't sure what to expect since the first book ended on a good note but man did it just get better. I can't believe what these people went through. Not gonna lie, I did not see that one coming and I'm still reeling afterwards. This book blew me away and I wasn't expecting it to be so good! Way better than the first of you ask me!

This is the second book in the series and it continues where the first left off. The three musketeers as I call them find themselves immersed in another drama and find themselves once again coming to each others rescue. The drama comes in a different form but it fits perfectly with this storyline. I love these characters and I cannot wait to read more of this wonderful world.

The book is a good teen and young adult romance read. The book is the second story in the Broken Hill High series, and it pick up right where the first story left off. THIS was an exciting book from start to finish. I read it in one day. There were many characters in this story. Some were out to help Eden and CLAY others were not. Both had hard growing up years and that was hard on the marriage. Instead of running to him for comfort and help Eden ran away from Clay after Brianna kidnapping Clay did the same thing running back to his work. Eden chose to move onto somewhere else to start over even giving Clay divorce papers. Thinking she was divorced she met someone and she was going to marry him. That was until Clay showed up with his news of their daughter and that she was still married to him. Now people started showing up from both of their pasts. The first ones were old buddies of Clays they chose to help him. The next ones were Eden long lost parents who she hoped to forget. Last of all the kidnapper showed one who had gone to school with Clay and was Eden half sister. She was out to get them. It all ended well for Eden, Clay, Brianna and the girls they all came together as a family. Colleen Coble does a great job with her books I had 2 of her other Lonestar Series books. I like how she cares the characters from each one of the books into the next one. Keep up the good work.

The first three books in the series are Lonestar Sanctuary, Lonestar Secrets and Lonestar Homecoming.Eden's daughter was taken and killed when she was only six weeks old. Eden ran away from her husband and tried to put her life back together. Now that she's about to receive a proposal of marriage, her ex-husband shows up and tells her they're still married. Not only that, but there's hope that their daughter is still alive. Dropping everything, she chases the possibility.Clay never wanted Eden to leave. He's received a photograph showing where his daughter might be, but he needs Eden's help. The ranch where she's supposedly at has a job opening, but it's for a couple. He's hoping for a happy ending where he finds their daughter and they're able to put their relationship back together.There's more than meets the eye. Four of the girls could be their daughter and they need to find a way to find the truth. In the meantime, someone is threatening Eden and making attempts on her life. She still loves Clay, but she's afraid to try again with Clay.I loved this book. It's been a while since I've read a really good romantic suspense and Coble is always a safe bet. Her characters are believable and the personalities she portrayed for some of the children were cute. Looking back, all the main characters from the other books show up. You can read them out of order and not miss much.I was SO glad to finally finish this series. While looking up the names of the previous books, I found out that there is going to be a Christmas novella associated with this series. It comes out in November 2014 and is called All Is Calm.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the romance and the suspense. This book kept me guessing as who was the bad guy. I figured it out toward the end. I would recommend it since it is a Christian read and I didn’t have to put up with profanity. Clay was an amazing person and so strong throughout the entire book.

Lone star Angel just kept you guessing throughout the book! It was very well written! Just really a great book!

I haven't read a Colleen Coble book that I haven't loved. This is no exception. She is a Christian writer but there is romance and mystery that makes you just want to keep reading and get to the end to see how it ends.

This is a very good book. The story line is heartwrenching. There is a great romance going on throughout, and so much more...a lot of suspense and mystery punctuate the novel. One unique thing about Colleen Coble's writing is that she doesn't use any profanity, and also, she adds spirituality. I love her books. They are so well written.

This book I believe was the best of the series. All were very good but this topped them all. Colleen Coble is my favorite author and she was out of the park on this book. This book shows that God is with us at all times, even when we don't see Him working.Eden and Clay had many twists and turns in their lives but in the end a miracle was performed. God does fight for us and this book shows that. A must read!

Lonestar Angel was another compliment to the Lonestar series. You won't go wrong reading books by Colleen Coble. Nice read with enough twists and turns to keep your interest and good moral/Christian message.

This is a great work of art and history. Author attempts to take the reader every step of the way from Hannibal learning to detest Rome from his father through all the battles that Hannibal won against the Romans. The author does and excellent job in going through all the available history and current thought about the 2nd Punic War. His Latin is much better than mine and he even puts a glossary in the end of the book!

O'Connell has done a brilliant job of describing the event in a way that is historically informative and enjoyable. The book is NOT a work of military history. It reads more like a work of historical fiction, but it's true.

A nicely-balanced book. Good groundwork and history at the beginning leading to the battle at Cannae; then the aftermath and redemption of Cannae's Roman survivors. The author could have spent more time and detail on Cannae's influence of then-future military conflicts. This would have provided better closure as so much historical prelude was offered. The ending was rather plain and felt rushed.

This is a thorough, entertaining and informative commentary of The Second Punic War (218-201 B.C.). The fluid, almost chatty narrative places the reader right in the middle of the action. Considering the limited availability of historical sources and their inherent bias towards Rome, the author fulfills the role of an impartial (and amused) historian very well. I always wondered how could Hannibal win every battle, but lose the war? What on earth was he doing in Italy for 15 years? How could his army survive?The Battle of Cannae (216 B.C.) was a devastating defeat and an enormous loss of life to The Roman Empire. Yet the author argues that no matter how brilliant tactician Hannibal was, he seriously misjudged the Roman resilience and resources. How could he not? How many armies one has to beat, how many soldiers to kill, how many territories to conquer before winning it all? One of his biggest mistakes during his long campaign was not attempting the siege of Rome after the won battle and forcing the budding empire to admit complete defeat. (To his defense, he had no siege equipment or expertise and could not afford tedious attrition warfare...). Then, he allowed the Roman battle lines to re-form before the climax of The Battle of Zama (202 B.C.) (Here the master of envelopment did not anticipate the quick return of the notoriously weak Roman cavalry). The title cleverly refers both to the condemned, then redeemed Roman veteran survivors of Cannae and the Roman decisions that became the seeds of the end of the Republic. Hannibal lost the war, but he induced an archetype of a character that could beat him and later challenge the power of the Senate by crossing an insignificant and shallow river named Rubicon. There is so much else to learn about here: the economic dynamics of Rome and Carthage, political conflicts, divisions in the respective leaderships, military history, the personalities of Hannibal, Scipio, Masinissa and Syphax along with countless and hapless Roman generals, a femme fatale (Sophonisba), battles, traps, ambushes, schemes, shifting alliances, and above all: panicking elephants. This is what a memorable historical account should be. An enthusiastic two thumbs (and two halluces) up!

Up front, this is a review of the Kindle version of this book. There are many adequate reviews of the content already, so I won't add more than to say that this was a well done book that presented some interesting perspectives on not just the battle of Cannae but events preceding and following that battle. It should be of interest to those who are interested in military history, but probably not those who consider themselves military history scholars.As for the kindle version, this book was poorly done. I typically read from my Kindle when I am at home or extended travel and from my iPhone during my daily commute and routine travel. This book includes frequent, large hyperlinks to the end notes. Often these hyperlinks are in the position on the page that an iPhone reader would hit to turn the page. Once this hyperlink is followed, it becomes 'the furthest page read' thus ruining synchronization between multiple reading devices. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to correct this. Also, it appears that the publisher has limited the content to only be read simultaneously on two devices. Had I know either of these things, I would not have purchased the book. This should be fixed immediately.

There’s an awful lot we can’t know about Cannae and about that era of Roman and Carthaginian history, but the author makes good deductions and brings the period to life, including the most devastastating battle in terms of lives lost. To this day, Cannae remains the most brutal slaughter and a stunning example of brilliant leadership - on Hannibal’s side.

I had always thought that the Romans handled the defeated soldiers with respect. The exile of the "ghosts - soldiers" of Cannae made me think of the poor treatment many of our Vietnam Veterans received. This is a very disturbing story. -- JRG

Great books. Does not descend into hero worship and presents Hannibal as a fully developed human being. As far as I can tell the scholarship level is very high for a popular book.
